“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful to him, and bless his name.” Psalms 100:4 (KJV).
Thanksgiving. What comes to mind when you think of the holiday? Roasted turkey, fall leaves, family around the table, or football playing on the TV? All of those things scream Thanksgiving, but do you know what else screams Thanksgiving?
Gratitude.
The holiday is all about being thankful for the goodness and the gifts that the Lord has given us, both throughout the past year and throughout our entire lives. It is a time to let go of negativity and complaining, and instead be grateful for the Lord’s bountiful kindness to us.
You might be thinking “But Thanksgiving is over!”
Perhaps it is, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still be giving thanks to the Lord! Having a heart of gratitude is something you can do all year round, whether it be during Thanksgiving, the beginning of spring, the height of summer, or the depths of winter.
So, let’s follow the Thanksgiving tradition and name one thing we are thankful for that God has done for us! I’ll lead the way and say that I am thankful that the Lord provided me a job this year that I actually enjoy!
Now, what are you thankful for? It doesn’t have to be big, it can be something small as well.“O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” Psalm 136: 1 (KJV).
