Cup of Tea~Lonely for Love

We all know what last week was: Valentines Day. That time of year where couples get especially sappy with each other; when stores push roses, chocolate candies, and red and pink hearts on us; and when all the single girls (and perhaps guys as well!) feel especially lonely. And let’s be honest, it feels like February is Valentines Month sometimes, so the lonely feeling of those of us not in a relationship tends to be rough the entire month.

But guess what? Even if you aren’t dating or married, you don’t have to feel alone this month–or any month of the year! And can you guess why? It’s because we aren’t alone. We don’t need to be lonely for love, because we have the One who loves us more than any boyfriend or girlfriend, husband or wife ever could. His love is pure, and it fulfills every need. And guess what? In His word God has used the language of marriage when talking to us, His bride.

“For your Maker is your husband,

The Lord of hosts is His name;

And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel;

He is called the God of the whole earth.”

(Isaiah 54:5–NKJV)

Pretty amazing, isn’t it? I don’t know about you, but every time I am reminded of this truth I don’t feel nearly as lonely for love, but rather I feel like a cherished, beloved gem of great value. And for you girls and guys who are in a relationship, this applies to you too! Don’t put your worth and happiness in your partner, but put it in God’s hands. He won’t ever leave you, nor will He ever forsake you.

So this month, instead of feeling lonely for love, let’s lean into God’s love and spend time in His presence, where His peace and joy surpass all understanding and knowledge.
