Times can be tough, and sometimes we don’t feel like praying. Does God even hear us? Does He care about us at all?
Let me tell you this: Jesus wants to hear from you. He wants to know what’s bothering you. Granted, He already knows every thought and feeling you have, but that just means you can be open and brutally honest with Him.
Saying “God, I’m mad at you” will not make Him upset. He loves you so much and understands what you’re going through.
I like to think of prayer as “talking to a friend”, and in this case, a Friend who will never feel offended or ashamed of you. Do you confide in a friend or a family member? How do you talk to them? Whatever it may be, you can do that with God, too!
If you’re like me, however, you might share the top layer of your struggles but hide your deepest secrets and fears from even those who love you. But you can tell God anything. He is our refuge and fortress—a place that we can run to when we’re feeling scared, overwhelmed, hurting, or simply troubled.
David wrote many prayers and songs to God. He openly told Him what he was going through and how he was feeling—both the good and the bad. And God wants to hear from us too. He invites us to come to Him.
1 Peter 5:7 “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
